“I can understand the concepts but I can’t do the questions in my common tests”
“I have been “doing” revision packs but I still can’t pass” đ
Sound familiar?
Do you really understand the concepts or are you simply memorising them?
Have you put in your tears, sweat and even saliva (cursing and swearing) at those questions or are you simply reading the suggested solutions and nodding in agreement?
What if you can see live! over the shoulders of Mr Chua on how he solves application questions using the basic concepts and associated keywords that you have learnt?
What are Sparring Workshops?
Sparring Workshops are live! lessons where you look over Mr Chua’s shoulder and see how he uses the Basic Concepts and Associated Keywords (which he has taught you or you have learnt in school) to solve carefully â selected application questions.
You see for yourself the thinking process he uses, the keywords he focuses on and how he handles unfamiliar scenarios including the struggles and doubts he has.
He will be sharing traps that you might fall into, the common mistakes and misconceptions.
The workshops use a wide variety of questions to recap on important basic concepts and associated keywords. Providing you with more exposure, confidence and motivation to handle your next Chemistry exam.
How will Sparring Workshops benefit me?
You can model Mr Chuaâs thinking process on how he uses the basic concepts and associated keywords to answer challenging application questions.
If you donât have the time, the motivation and discipline to practice Chemistry effectively, these Sparring Workshops will definitely benefit you.
Mr Chua set aside the time to work hard together with you.
You are highly encouraged to do these questions before the workshops.
Put in your sweat, tears and joy to test your understanding and application skills.
You save time by working on high quality questions â carefully selected to meet specific learning objectives.
You see your strengths and weaknesses clearly so that you know what to strengthen before your next Chemistry exam.
All the above canât be achieved by reading suggested solutions in the stack of revision papers given by schools!
Because everything you read will make sense!
Can I still attend the Sparring Workshops if my basic concepts are not strong?
Truth to be told, you will feel challenged by the questions, as they arenât the simple, straightforward types.
However, by looking over Mr Chuaâs shoulders, you will pick up the important basic concepts and associated keywords which you are lacking.
You will definitely emerge from the workshops with a much better understanding of the topics.
But due to the demands of the A Level syllabus, to pass H2 Chemistry with Distinction, you still must still build a strong foundation by starting from the basic concepts and associated keywords.
This could be done by purchasing his full teaching platform which consists of Full Recorded Lessons + Full Comprehensive Notes + Whatsapp Support by Mr Chua personally.
This way, you will feel very confident for the topic of discussion.
Are these Sparring Workshops online or onsite?
You can choose to attend them either online or onsite, just like our weekly lessons.
However we can only accept up to a maximum of 32 students for onsite lessons.
Should there be restrictions for onsite lessons due to covid, the workshops will be continued online.
About Mr Sean Chua
Many of you know him as the 10 Year Series Book Author for both O-Level Pure Chemistry and A-Level H2 Chemistry.
He has the privilege to unlock the potential of 2000+ students, helping them to achieve 3 grades jump or more for their Chemistry within the shortest period of time and to provide them the edge to enter the most competitive university of their choice.
From his 20+ years of teaching experience, he discovers the main reasons why todayâs JC 1 and 2 students are struggling to pass Chemistry with Distinction are:
- They cannot understand Chemistry concepts at all due to change of style of learning from classroom teaching to home based learning.
- They donât know how to apply what they have learnt to score in exams because they answer in their own âlanguageâ without paying attention to the keywords which examiners are looking for to award them the full marks.
- Hardworking students are studying Chemistry the wrong way! They are learning Chemistry concepts only on the surface without much understanding. They tend to memorise the sentences in their notes and expect to score in exam by regurgitating. However, the questions will not come out that way. They got it wrong all these while since a concept can be tested in different angles. As such, they struggle to score better than C or even D grade.

When I started JC, chem was a subject that I really tried my best to avoid studying because I struggled with it so much and it was pretty obvious from my grades (I got a U for CTs in year 5).
However, Mr Chuaâs lessons really changed my whole attitude towards the subject because of his emphasis on the importance of mastering the basics and getting our fundamental concepts right before moving on to tackle questions and that really helped me in overcoming my fear of the subject I feel.
Not that anyone cares but I ended up getting an A for chem in my A levels which is a pretty big improvement from my U in year 5 so ya THANKS MR CHUA !!
Puar Yu Rou, RI, U to A grade
In Lee Kong Chian School of MedicineI hadn’t quite been failing Chemistry before going for Mr Chua’s Organic Chemistry revision workshop but I wasn’t really doing super well either because my content knowledge was all over the place.
It gave me a peace of mind and sound revision materials for me to efficiently absorb all that I needed to get an A in H2 Chemistry and full marks for Paper 1!
I had attended his classes in secondary school too and gained a love for the subject so thank you Mr Chua!
Bernadette Fong, EJC, A grade
In NUS e-scholars programmeAlthough I only joined Winners Education Centre for around a term, Mr Chua has helped me to improve my grasp of chemistry concepts by strengthening my understanding of many basic concepts which helped me to understand more complex ones.
His explanations are very clear and he is always willing to clarify individual doubts during lessons and even through text.
His lessons are always very engaging and his style of teaching really piqued my interest in the subject. I even started to enjoy it although it was originally my least favourite subject!
Mr Chua offers guidance and encouragement all the way to the end of the A levels which really spurred me on to study harder and smarter! Despite joining his lessons for less than a year, I already saw improvements in my grades. Thank you Mr Chua!
Hilary Chia, RI, D to A grade
Invited by various universities for pre-admission & scholarshipsBefore I joined, I was struggling with the large amount of content provided by my school, and it was extremely hard to sieve through my school notes to find what is relevant and tested for A’levels.
Mr Chua’s lessons are structured and clear to follow, and his notes are extremely concise, which makes Chemistry less daunting.
I went from a D in prelims to an A in A’levels. I would recommend Mr Chua’s lessons to any student who is struggling with their basic concepts as he mainly focuses on that!
Kok Chu Shuen, VJC, D to A in 6 months!
Before I joined Mr Chua’s lessons, H2 Chemistry felt really hard and although I could understand my school’s lectures, I couldn’t seem to apply the knowledge and answer my tutorial or examination questions well.
I was scoring Us and Es all the way till around mid J2. Fortunately, after join Mr Chua’s lessons, Mr Chua was able to explain the concepts much more clearer and helped me to understand how I should apply the concepts, helping me to score a B at the A levels.
He was engaging as a teacher and showed care as a mentor to his students.
Jesper Loo, RI, U to B in 5 months!
Mr Chua is a dedicated teacher who strive to help every student attain their desired results. His unconventional teaching methods greatly helped me grasp difficult Chemistry concepts. His passion for Chemistry has inspired me to pursue my own interest in the subject. Will definitely recommend to those who need the extra push in the subject.
Cuithbert Lim, Meridian JC , D to A grade
He was a Combine Science student during O Level.Sean is very enthusiastic and very patient with every single one of his students, and definitely knows what he is doing when teaching. Most importantly, he is able to help students find joy in studying and fall in love with the subject. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to improve chemistry!
Cyril Teo, HCI, U to A grade
I would like to thank Mr Chua for helping me to efficiently understand and absorb chemistry!
Chemistry has been my weakest subject in JC and rote memorisation was going nowhere. With 4 months left to A levels, I decided to enrol in Mr Chua’s lessons and improved by 5 grades from Prelims to A levels. What you can expect is easy to understand notes, accessible lessons online and a welcoming teacher. If you are currently struggling in chemistry, this is for you. :>
Josephine Tan, TMJC, E to B in 4 months!
Have been student of Winners since Sec 3. Lessons were conducted in a lively way. Class size was small and hence more focused . Scored A for both O & A Levels . Strongly recommend for those who wish to improve their Chemistry grades .
Christy Sim, ASRJC, A grade
Joined us since Sec 3. Consistently achieved A grade for O Level & H2 Chemistry.I have been with Winners Education Centre for three years and I am extremely satisfied with their way of teaching.
Before I joined, I struggled with basic concepts, let alone application of those concepts. I was unable to overcome my misconceptions by myself as I did not know the correct way to study Chemistry.
I thought Chemistry was a subject you just had to memorise to score A’s. I was getting D’s before I joined and decided to join Winners as the tutor, Mr Chua, seemed very confident and humble about his concepts. He was also the author of the Ten Year Series.
I loved Mr Chua’s classes as he always made concepts seem simple and straightforward. His lessons were engaging and taught me the fun in Chemistry. I became more daring and answered more questions as well. I managed to achieve a A in H2 Chemistry after 2 years of JC.
I would recommend this to anyone who is struggling with H2 Chemistry and is looking to clarify all his basic concepts. To all students taking H2 Chemistry, good luck and try your best! Always stick to your basic concepts and do not be afraid to seek help as help is always here for you. What matters is how badly you want to do well.
Tay Yang Ying, NJC, A grade
Learning chemistry from Mr Chua has been incredibly helpful because he makes the concepts easy to grasp and he understands that knowing the basics is very important. He is also willing to answer any questions students have either in person or through whatâs app which is really great. I definitely recommend his classes for anyone who is struggling or needs a little help for chemistry!
Shauna Tan, Temasek JC, C to A grade
Winners Education was first introduced to me by my brother who had attended class there a few years before me.
Before attending class here, I was struggling in school with so many concepts that I could not grasp.
Winners Education is different from many other tuition centres that I have been to because they do not try to beat the schools in teaching content. The teachers at Winners Education focus on ensuring students can understand topics well instead of focusing on just covering topics quickly.
Every lesson was dedicated not so much on content dissemination, but more for asking questions and clarifying doubt. Most importantly, Winners Education always made sure everyone was on the same page and everyone understood fully before continuing with teaching content.
The centre is most suited for students who find it hard to keep up with the pace at school and have not fully grasped their concepts yet. Even though it may seem like content is not being taught as quickly, every lesson is a form of revision for the chapter and students will eventually require less time for final revision at the end of the year.
Winners Education helped me to improve my Chemistry grade until I eventually scored an A in the âAâ level examinations.
Thank you so much for your help for the past 2 years, answering all my queries and misconceptions. Wouldnât have been able to do it without your help, Mr Chua!
I would certainly recommend this centre to everyone.
Janine Ang, ACJC, A grade
Consistently achieved A grade for H2 Chemistry after joining Winners. In NTU Accountancy.Thank you for your guidance. I got A for my Chemistry!
Edley Ng, VJC, D to A grade
Joined Winners in the last 3 months to A Levels as the huge class size of 40-50 students in another centre did not help in his understanding.I got A for H2 Chemistry. Yay!!! Thanks Sean!! Iâm so happy!!! I couldnât have done it without your help!!
Dana Lim, RI, S to A grade
Chem had always been my weak subject ever since Sec 3. My foundations in the subject were weak which made it difficult to quickly grasp the new concepts taught at the JC level. As such, I really struggled with getting good grades in JC. I received an S grade in the mid-year exams followed by an E grade in the promotional exams.
Upon the recommendation of a friend, I decided to join classes at Winners education in order to build my confidence in the subject.
The chem classes delivered by Mr Chua were very clear and concise. He made even complex concepts simple to understand. His notes would condense the topics into salient points which greatly aided in revision. I managed to clarify my doubts and strengthen my foundations in chem through asking questions throughout the lessons.
It took me approximately 6 months to improve my results and to eventually attain a B grade at the Prelims. I then went on to attain an A grade at A level Chem. I realised that it is never too late to start catching up on things that you do not know and to improve your understanding in a subject. Winners education certainly helped in my journey but I also needed to put in regular hard work to get the results I wanted.
I would recommend Winners to anyone who really wants to improve in Chemistry or Maths and wishes to do so in the fastest possible time. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter how you started or what happened in the middle. What matters is how you end your journey. đ
